Overview
Demonwood was founded durring the late 13th century in fall of the year 1187, by Zèqthêrî Whiting. The establishment of Demonwood was somewhat plagued by a lack of willing colonists, leading to Zèqthêrî Whiting electing to pay people to resettle in Demonwood.
Demonwood was built using the conventions of Sylvin durring the late 13th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Demonwood is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature waddle and daub construction with good timber frames and a stone foundation protected by thatched or shingled rooves. Most buildings with second floors are built in such a way as to overhang into the streets on the upper floors for more space, as building size seems to be the primary indicator of wealth within the community. Most buildings are not decorated with any integral features, but instead use ivy, flowers, and other natural elements in planters of on trellices to breathe life into the structure they grow upon.
Demonwood is buildings are arranged arrounded highly ordered system of narrow baked earthen streets which form octogonal paterns, allowing the incides of the octagons to be common grounds for the buildings on the edges, be it for parkland, yardspace, plazas, or markets. The town is protected by a well-crafted cobblestone fence tall enough to provide adiquite cover for defenders to fire from, but no more than that. The frontieer-style defences has suffered a visible ammount of structural damage, leaving them effectivly useless. One can't help but wonder why the has not yet effected repairs.
A look around Demonwood makes it abundantly clear the town suffered something horrible some time ago. It’s a quiet town filled with closed scriptoriums, people quietly yet dejectedly reading in isolated places around town, and the occasional book laying in a heap of garbage.

Cultural Notes
Demonwood's locals despise outsiders. For some “outsiders” may be natives of foreign lands, while others might have a grudge against anyone from outside the community. These locals have an active loathing, and the outsiders allowed to trade or interact with them do so at a heavy disadvantage.
Demonwood's garrison was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used embraces individualism and experimentation. It emerged as a movement against traditional, classical styles and sought to make buildings dynamic and fun while breaking the rules. The style incorporated elements of previous architectural styles in exaggerated and whimsical ways. Traditional, conservative leanings were void in this era, with most scholars of architecture agreeing it was a time of “anything goes.”.
Due to the actions of local Kami, summer is short in Demonwood.
The Chitikin near Demonwood are known to be almost tame, such that they can be put to domestic use.
Demonwood's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in winter and involves sacrificing an animal to channel Chronomancy energies of tier 2 via recitation of poetic epics.
